SIMON LOUIS ONG
Simon Ong is a working screenwriter, producer, and actor based in Los Angeles. Graduating from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2019, he studied dramatic writing with a concentration in screenwriting and was awarded the Venable Herndon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting. On Ong, thesis professor Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Men in Black) wrote:
“I have rarely met a young writer who has impressed me as much as Simon Ong... The piece he chose to write for my class was a tough one - a high bar. But he approached it with the kind of confidence (and an open-mindedness) that would be rare for even the most established of my peers. And he nailed it.”
Since relocating to the west coast, Ong continues his primary focus on writing. His feature script Three Apes Perform Shakespeare in Chicago was a quarterfinalist in the Scriptation Screenwriting Competition. When not writing, Ong has worked on a variety of productions, big and small, from Michael B. Jordan's Creed III and Daniel Minahan's On Swift Horses to indie filmmaker Hamilton O'Toole's upcoming debut feature King of Thieves for which Ong served as associate producer, first assistant director, and supporting actor.
